Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Backend Engineer for our functional squads who loves learning new things and facing new challenges but we also value it if you have some deep experience in specific topics such as design systems, scalability, XP practices, web development, etc.

At Nextail, you will be part of a cross-functional and autonomous team where you will lead the frontend development of the new modules of our Product. You will collaborate with Product and Design people to build the best user experience for our customers. We love developers with a strong Product and Agile mindset who value good technical practices. Developers who enjoy staying close to Production, doing continuous deployment with special care on quality.

We are a remote company, but you can also work in the Madrid offices. At the moment, we are only seeking candidates in Europe (UTC+02:00 or similar).

Responsibilities:

• Join the team responsible for evolving and maintaining the functional modules of the company.
• Design, develop, and maintain efficient and scalable backend systems.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Optimize system performance and tackle complex scalability issues

• Over 3 years as a Backend Developer building complex products and working as a part of a cross-functional team.
• Solid experience with Python or Java. 
• Preferred knowledge of technologies like Dagster, DBT, or similar data orchestration and transformation tools. Familiarity with these technologies or equivalent alternatives will be highly valued.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to work in an agile environment and adapt quickly to changes.
• Knowledge and interest in design patterns, SOLID, Hexagonal Architecture; and everything related to software architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience applying good development practices like TDD, CI/CD, etc.
• Experience working in fast-paced product-oriented startups.
• Being a team player with solid skills in collaboration and initiative.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish

• Knowledge of Ruby.
• Experience in working with databases such as Snowflake or similar cloud-based data warehousing solutions.
• Concern for efficiency, costs, and scalability of implemented solutions.
